On February 12-13, 2008, a CrossFit HQ staff went to Alamo CrossFit in San Antonio, TX for a special Level 1 certification seminar. Members of the Warrior Transition Battalion from the Brooke Army Medical Center gathered to learn the basics of functional movement and how to scale for any starting point.

In this video by CrossFit Again Faster, Kyle Maynard talks about the gains he’s seen—both physical and mental—after every CrossFit workout.

At the event, Kyle went head to head against SSG Gabriel Wright in a Fran demo. Gabriel is one of the physical therapists working with the warriors on their recoveries. He had been dabbling with CrossFit workouts, but this was his first Fran. Kyle did modified KB thrusters and ring-ups. It wasn’t close.

That was the coolest video that I have seen on here to date. Kyle you are an inspiration to me and to the community. It just blows me away what you can do. I have been thinking about your upcoming MMA match and being just a little worried for you, but now after seeing that I think that you could concur the world. Keep up the good work and continue to make a difference, you are a warrior.

Kyle fought his first MMA fight today. He lost by a decision but the world didn't stop turning on its axis. Kyle's a badass.

Wow that was my first Fran and it really did a number on me! I have been going strong with CrossFit since my cert and can't wait to tackle her again. This was really cool to do with Kyle, he is a great person and an inspiration to us all. Keep up the good work Kyle.

This is truly some of the most inspiring SH*T on the planet! Kyle, you are incredible, and a true blessing to the entire CrossFit community! Whether gasping for just one small breath in the middle of a WOD, or trying to "overcome" during a challenging day...I can't help but think of videos like this to help push me through! I just watched all four of the segments of warrior spirit. Like Eugene said, "I will feel embarrased to even complain about a WOD" Good comment Eugene. There should be no reason not to do a WOD after watching these segments.
