In Olympic Lifts, Videos
May 13, 2009
Coach Mike Burgener of Mike’s Gym popped in to CrossFit Santa Cruz on April 1st, 2009 for a couple Oly-lifting instructional sessions.
In the second video of this series from CrossFit by Overload, Coach B explains his approach to the potential conflict of developing technique on the one hand, and strength, speed, and power on the other.
This video concludes Jason Khalipa’s and Jocelyn Forest’s warmup. At the end of the warmup, Burg transitions into the workout using a variety of skill transfer exercise that teach pieces of the snatch. It’s easier to learn individual segments, and the muscle memory that is developed comes to bear fruit when the entire movement is practiced later.
Coming soon are more videos of their full session (in which both athletes set PRs in the snatch).

Another GREAT video from Coach Burgener.
And I have a correction to make on myself - I was dipping my upper body on the high pull during the Burgener warmup.
Thanks Coach. Awesome - I can't say it enough. I really liked the, "Burgener's Do Grace" video from the other day too.

Excellent video instruction. My only suggestion, would be to add a string for all parts 1,2,3,4 etc, so they could be found easily for viewing succession. Keep up the great work, for guys like me who are constantly trying to improve and learn new technique..
