A dramatic and unexpected announcement from Games Director Dave Castro: CrossFit Northwest in Seattle has almost certainly clinched The Affiliate Cup on Day One of the competition. The other four teams in the finals on Sunday will most likely be competing for second, third, fourth and fifth places.
A very happy Paul Zavaglia of CrossFit Northwest discussed the strategy his team had used to move into the top position. He said it’s a tight knit team, with four members working together as trainers. The Aromas hills were a challenge because the team is used to doing hill work on city streets.
Darrell “Bingo” White set the scene by describing the festive atmosphere at the Games site in Aromas, CA.
Coach Mike Burgener talked about the role he was playing at the Games by supporting and encouraging athletes. He said he was ready to pitch in with last-minute coaching.
Pat Barber, who finished fourth in last year’s games, discussed his final preparations and how he expected to fare in the workouts that had been announced.
