After a successful trip to CrossFit Works in Arizona, the CrossFit Media team is on the road again, this time using the Southwest Airlines Ding program to travel to Salt Lake City, Utah, home to about eight CrossFit boxes.
Miranda and Tyson Oldroyd—both HQ trainers—own and operate CrossFit 801. Along with HQ trainer and top athlete Chris Spealler of CrossFit Park City, they converged on Tommy Hackenbruck’s Ute CrossFit to coach a WOD.
Three different trainers bring unique approaches to helping their athletes achieve success, and three different athletes bring unique goals to the gathering. One is an aspiring CrossFit Games competitor, one is a former competitive distance athlete, and the third is a girl who just wants to have fun. Based upon the known strengths of their athletes, the coaches help each one strategize for a WOD that was created on the spot.

Great stuff. Really looking forward to meeting all of these amazing coaches next week at Utah/Nevada sectionals. Brooke came to our box last summer a few times and she is a very gifted athlete. Good luck to her and Miranda in that sectional!

It's interesting seeing the different approaches each coach has for their respective athlete and their goals in the wod (aka Tommy givng specific ranges for the girl looking to compete at sectionals). Love the little tips also, like Speal mentioning keeping everything tight with a controlled slow descent on the ovies followed by an explosion on the way up. Can't wait for part 2.
