In the conclusion of this interview with HQ Trainer Todd Widman, he addresses some of the unique challenges facing the CrossFit community before moving on to discuss his own athletic endeavors, which will culminate in the 2010 CrossFit Games Washington Sectional later this month.

In Part 1 (which is really Part 4 of this interview), Todd addresses training the non-athlete and grades CrossFit’s ability to cater to special populations. While CrossFit.com WODs are created to exceed the capacities of the world’s fittest athletes, Widman believes it is equally rewarding to witness everyday individuals pushing through discomfort and reclaiming their fitness through intensity. Todd encourages coaches to master the art of scaling to make CrossFit universally applicable to any population.

In Part 2, Todd speaks about his intentions to participate in the Northwest Sectionals. Todd’s reasons for jumping into the ring revolve around giving back to a community that has given so much to him, both locally and globally. Is there added pressure and expectations because of his position in the public eye? Yes and no. The pressure is a familiar feeling Todd has become accustomed to while working at seminars.

Another great tribute to CrossFit & Todd. He truly can get everything and more out of those that attend the Level 1 certs that he teaches. A true motivator in every sense of the word, he convinces you to give your all.....and then give more.

Todd's the man. At my lvl 1 I was instantly struck by how he commanded a room's attention. He also has the exact same speaking rhythm as barack obama.

Todd-
The advice and coaching that you have given me in all areas has made me a better person, athlete, coach, friend....the list goes on. I always know I can count on you for inspiration and real honest advice. I have enjoyed watching this beast of an athlete come out of you! I am pulling for you and will be thinking about (and channeling) you during my sectionals going on at the very same time!

Todd was one the trainers at my level 1 cert in Golden, CO last year. He was one of the most knowledgeable people I have ever listened to. Very intelligent, very humble, very polite. Great guy! I am very impressed by his humility and his athletic ability as well. I'm pulling for this guy at the sectionals...he is definitely a quality human being. Good luck Todd, keep up the good work spreading the word of CrossFit!

I have a man-crush on Todd, too. I'm probably the most highly conditioned stud in the Seattle Fire Department, but I don't hold a candle to my idol Todd Widman. If all men in SFD could be like Todd, that would be my ultimate hot-box wet dream. xoxoxo

I wish you well at your sectional!! If your effort matches your passion, you'll do terrific.

I've never had the pleasure of meeting you, but have had several of my athletes participate in their level 1 with you. They had nothing but great/inspiring things to say about you. Thank you for what you do to help this Community prosper from the ground up!! You're the man!
