In Affiliation, CrossFit, Radio
April 14, 2010

On this episode of CrossFit Radio, host Justin Judkins interviewed CrossFit Co-Director of Training Nicole Carroll and Underground Strength Coach owner Zach Even-Esh. Episode 115 was webcast live at 6 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, April 14, 2010.
2:35 Nicole Carroll of CrossFit HQ came on the show to talk about the Coaches Prep Course, a recent addition to CrossFit’s seminar and certification offerings. Carroll explained what’s covered during the two-day seminar and mentioned that it was created after trainers expressed their desire for an intermediary step between Level 1 and Level 2 certs. Nicole also talked about the international accreditation process CrossFit is undergoing through the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and how the Level 2 certs are currently on hold as they’re brought in line with ANSI standards. She explained how the certifications are always changing and evolving to produce better trainers, with one addition being the test that is now given at the end of Level 1 Certs.
30:15 Zach Even-Esh is the owner of Underground Strength Coach/CrossFit Underground. In his entertaining style, he talked about how he went from teaching school for 11 years to coaching and training athletes full time. Zach talked about the need to have the right mindset as an affiliate owner and explained how he constantly feeds his mind and strives to improve in every aspect of his life. According to the man from Dirty Jersey, this approach spills over into owning an affiliate.

JJ, 115 was great as ever. Both interviews were real relevant. Thank YOU!
The one question I would ask Nicole is why New England is like a black hole on the map of level 1 certs? Are we really that behind in CrossFitting populations?
Zach: people that go for it inspire the rest of us! More than blind faith, you put real effort into your leap. I wish you all the good fortune I can send. Why can't families be more supportive, right. Don't they have any faith at all? Or would they rather see you die a slow death on a safe bet? Hell, it's not their life to waste! Cheers!
