On Episode 117 of CrossFit Radio, host Justin Judkins interviewed affiliate owner Monique Ames and CrossFit HQ’s Dave Castro. The episode was webcast live at 6 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, April 28, 2010.

5:17 Monique Ames, owner of CrossFit Evolution, came on the show to talk about the mindset of an affiliate owner, and she started off with a description of her experience at FilFest in Miami, Fla. Monique has years of experience as a successful affiliate owner and explained many lessons she has learned through trial and error. She believes success in today's economy requires an affiliate owner to be flexible, and she gave several examples of how to get ahead in the current financial conditions.

38:08 Dave Castro, CrossFit Co-Director of Training, started the interview by mentioning the sad passing of CrossFitter and Games competitor Amanda Miller. The 2010 CrossFit Games will be held at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles due to county permit restrictions in Aromas, and Dave explained how he investigated several places to find the best venue to accommodate both athletes and spectators. Dave described the new location and what he envisions for this year’s Games, which will be streamed live online for free. He also talked about the next stage of qualification kicking off this weekend, with several regional events scheduled.
