Most people know Tanya Wagner as the 2009 CrossFit Games champion, but she’s also a great trainer who runs CrossFit Apex with her husband Josh.
Tanya is a passionate, vocal trainer, and in this video shot at FilFest in Miami, Fla., Tanya explains what she’s actually saying when she’s coaching. Sometimes a coach needs to yell loudly, but other times a coach needs to calm an athlete down and help prevent him or her from getting out of control.
Firebreathers and potential firebreathers have different needs altogether, and a trainer will have special considerations for athletes chasing top times or working toward the CrossFit Games.
Tanya’s main point: running a WOD is about so much more than holding a stopwatch.
