On Episode 119 of CrossFit Radio, host Justin Judkins interviewed Games qualifiers Patrick Burke and Peter Egyed. This episode was webcast live at 6 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, May 12, 2010.
2:35 Justin began the show with a rundown of the regionals that took place last weekend and which competitors qualified for the Games. He also read an e-mail from Justus Norgard, who talked about the Firefighter Olympics that will take place this summer.
8:13 Patrick Burke owns MBS CrossFit in Broomfield, Colo. He came on the show to talk about the testing he recently did at IMG Academies with a group of CrossFitters invited by CrossFit Games sponsor Under Armour. He explained the tests and what they were for before describing how he flew from the event in Florida to his regional competition in Colorado. Pat placed third at the North Central Regional and will be going back to the Games after an eighth-place finish in 2009. Burke talked about the regional competition and how he thinks the North Central event compares to some of the other regionals taking place around the world.
35:05 Peter Egyed owns CrossFit Fury in Goodyear, Ariz. Swimming in a very deep talent pool at the Southwest Regional, Egyed earned a trip back to the Games, where he will be one of only a few athletes who have competed in all four editions of the annual event. Egyed talked about his diet and training and how he’ll prepare for L.A., then explained how he programs for his affiliate. He described how he introduces newcomers to his affiliate and how he’s managed to double the amount of monthly sign-ups he gets.
