“Kayaks are like golf clubs. There’s a purpose for each one.”
In Part 2 of this series, CrossFitter and pro kayaker Brad Ludden talks more about his “job,” detailing the finer points of a sport that can be as dangerous as it can be exhilarating.
While it might not be instantly apparent why squatting and Olympic lifts benefit a guy who pilots a kayak through a vicious set of rapids, Ludden is certain CrossFit training has made him better at his sport. Beyond physical training, Ludden has also embraced a new diet, and he’s found it made a huge difference in his life.
Ludden is the driving force behind First Descents, a non-profit group that uses kayaking and outdoor sports to improve the lives of people with cancer.

Hell yeah! Brad, this is awesome to see. I'm still cutting my teeth on Class II, but I hope to run that stuff one day. CrossFit or Die, Brother!
Best,
Jon

Whatever.
Brad was 18 when we were having that beer. He was a small child wandering into a conversation..
Besides, where did he get the beer?
Go ahead and ask Mr. Ludden about dating Jennifer Love Hewitt? Hmmm? I was there.
Or, how about when Anne Curry from the Today Show felt his arms AFTER he was crowned Cosmo's bachelor of the year.
Yeah, he has an outdoor adventure program for Cancer survivors now in it's 10th year.
He may have a legit sub-3 fran, but I remember when he was still paddling his teen-wolf kayak.

Okay, I can't POSSIBLY compete with the comment from KStarr.
HOWEVER, I just woke up and watched this one. First of all, LOVE the background tunes. But, then belted out to my husband, "BABE, you've GOT to watch the KB's and kayak vid!!!!" Really cool way of making sense of how the stuff WE do indirectly makes you better at stuff that we DON'T do.
P.S. I need a cool sign off like Kelly's. Cooler than: "Thanks, Heather".

Thanks Brad for putting this together! I couldn't agree more! Paddling is one of the toughest sports out there. We at CrossFit Cashmere, peak2creek training, are seeing bigger loops, faster spins, and superior endurance out on the river. Again and again the followers of CrossFit will continue to throw down in all sports! Come for a visit next time you hit the NorthWest Creeks.
Cheers,
Jenny Colella
Here are 2 great photos where two of our members demonstrate the benifits doing KTE's and GHD sit ups during a local rodeo last weekend.
