In Rest Day/Theory, Videos, Workouts

CrossFit isn’t just kettlebells and rope climbs. Sometimes improving one’s fitness requires a WOD of the mental kind. Zip Zap Zop is a game of focus and determination, requiring the participants to analyze a pattern and look their competitors in the eyes.
What happens when you throw a group of highly competitive CrossFit Games athletes under the pressure of a mental WOD? Well, Chris Spealler goes down early, Jimi Letchford plays shoulder devil to sabotage Dave Castro, and Jason Khalipa calls for a judges review.
No quarter asked or given. Ties settled by deadlift.

Dude, this is a drinking game in Thailand called "Bing, Bang, Bong." But seriously, what a great application to teaching human interaction and focus to kids and adults alike.

May be the most entertaining thing I've seen on the Journal. Generally outstanding work across the board, but this is fun because you see these titans are just as goofy as anyone else. On a side note, I am happy to see that the Mastermind behind the Games is the guy that won the mental challenge.

Sweet...this is an old improvisation/acting warm up/theater game that's used in places like Second City & such....used to do a lot of this in my earlier theater days....boy does THIS get the old wheels turning! (I wonder what ELSE I have somewhere in my head that can be modified to CrossFit)
PS What's next? MacBeth for time?

I've been playing zip zap zop for years with 12 year olds for years volunteering for UCLA Unicamp. Pretty sure I could hang pretty well with this group

This is great. An often forgotten aspect of crossfit- laughter is a big part of health.
