In Athletes, CrossFit Games, Videos
August 23, 2010
Even if you finish in the top 10 at the CrossFit Games, you still have to earn a Level 1 certification—it just isn’t as hard to learn the movements when you’re one of the world’s top CrossFitters.
After an outstanding performance at the 2010 Games, always-smiling Camille Leblanc-Bazinet was invited to a Level 1 Cert at CrossFit Watertown, where Again Faster caught up the athlete from Richelieu, Quebec.
In between front squats, med-ball cleans and workouts, Camille talked about her experience at the Games, her training and her burning desire to get back to the Games in 2011.
And for the record, Leblanc-Bazinet is now a certified Level 1 CrossFit trainer.

I think CF already has the perfect poster girl and amazing ambassador to our sport. Her name is Kristan Clever! Hope you all are putting together some awesome videos with Kristan. Can't wait and thanks in advance!!

I had the pleasure of interviewing Camille at the Games. She was a friendly, sweet person with a great attitude. I'm glad she did so well and I hope she makes it back next year. I'm a fan.
Good luck with your training, Camille.

the last two minutes of that video are especially awesome to see the passion in her eyes as she talks about the "fire" within. Great video and best of luck to anyone that has that flame of desire to be the best and best of luck to Camille!

Kristian is awesome but I have to lean towards Camille. The one and only reason why is that Camille is Canadian and I'm a Canadian. Both have really good attitudes and passion for CF.

I think a cool parallel between Kristan and Camille is that they both seem to have approached the games the same way (at least given what we've been shown through all these videos). They have both said something along the lines of "what can you do at the games other than your best?" and "you can't be mad that you didn't do this or that as long as you do your best and give your all". That's how I perceive it, anyway.
Both girls are amazing and I think it's really cool that they seem to share a similar passion toward Crossfit.

My wife was at home during the games and Friday night she decided to check the live webcast and she got hooked, spending the entire weekend watching. Saturday I got a text message from her, by the way she does not do crossfit, and she said, "Camille is my new idol, that girl is just awesome in every way". I crossed paths with Camille and introduced myself, showed her the text, and took a picture with her. She was nice, humble, and you could just tell how much fun she was having. Definetly a poster girl canidate.

Smart marketing to make this one a free download!
I find pretty much all CF women compelling, each in their own way. It has more to do with the generally positive, can-do attitudes than specific aspects of their appearance.
Some women that I know outside of CF are considerably more influenced by appearance than I am. Seeing CF girls who they consider to be too butch or big or ripped ends up keeping them away from CF rather than drawing them in. The reality of the matter is that Camille's appearance makes her less threatening to that subset of people than any number of other more experienced and at least equally qualified ladies.
Sad but true, but I guess it isn't wrong to target that crowd as well. The sooner we can get them to a box the sooner we can get started on expanding their narrow, appearance-centered perspectives.

Camille-
I love your attitude and I love how you talk about that fire that you feel. It inspires me to hear from you and I am so happy that you did as well as you did at the Games! Keep up the hard work! CrossFit is lucky to have both you and Kristan and all of the ladies who competed in the Games as "poster women".

Yep agree! On a purely superficial level she's right up there! Yes Miss Clever is an awesome athlete but I think its a double whammy when you have an awesome female athlete along with femininity and looks that could kill! She hits it on both levels. It's something in any field that you will always get...the pin ups! She does make grown men melt! God bless you Camille... and I must say that picture of her at the games...a muscle up has never looked so hot!

I use Camille all the time as an example to prove that fit women don't have to be huge or butch to be good at cross fit.
