“Just to be a strong woman in my family, that’s enough for me,” says Rebecca Voigt.

In spite of that basic goal, the former basketball player has come a long way to finish seventh at the 2010 CrossFit Games and become training partner to champion Kristan Clever.

After knee surgery and its complications, as well as sacrificing to train and compete at a high level, Voigt has come away with belief and self-confidence.

“There’s not really anything I can’t do,” she says.

How far will Voigt’s skill and confidence take her on the road to the 2011 CrossFit Games?

Is she sure she has a patella fracture? Her description of her condition and treatment is a little suspect. Having a doctor tell her that her "fracture will never heal" is non-sense. My suspicion is that she has a symptomatic bipartite patella, particularly with her description of where this so-called fracture is. Given the significant swelling of the knee in this video, seems like excision of the small fragment could be an option. Of course, I'm assuming that she saw an orthopedic surgeon to begin with and all this has already been entertained. If not, there are options.

Gives me hope that I can get through these knee injuries and someday compete. Granted I have a LONG way to go! :)
