A few months ago, George Ryan held the first CrossFit Striking Seminar at CrossFit La Verne. Since then, many CrossFitters have been discussing ways to increase the variance of their program with a heavy bag, focus mitts and more.
In the first of a two-part series, Ryan jumps into the topic of bag striking. He touches briefly on proper hand protection and some additional elements that could be thrown in—such as kick bags—for variety.

Good fundamental instructional video for both newbies, oldies who began in the "old" way, and especially for coaches who have crossed over to adding more multiple striking to their curriculum. It sets the tone for expansion for all ages and styles to extend their defensive a fitness levels.

George Ryan did an outstanding job putting this course together, as well as in teaching it.
We implemented this type of training immediately after George's Striking course and it has been very well-received.
Our all-girl classes, called "Striking Gals", are very popular.

We are really excited to host this new cert next weekend, May 21. We already had implemented boxing into our programming offers, but I believe this is going to be an amazing addition!
Thank you, George, in advance, for coming all the way to Oregon for us!

Great video-this makes the distinction between sport fighting and self-defense that all coaches, whether tradtionally trained in boxing/MMA, etc. or CrossFit coaches can apply to their athletes looking to enhance their condtioning through CrossFit

We have implemented a Striking program at our box as well after taking George Ryan's cert and the response has been great! People are really loving it. I had one of my members post on facebook..."the only thing better than a CrossFit WOD..is a CrossFit WOD where you get to hit sh&!" Thanks George for the great instruction and thanks for posting the video.

My wife Mallee and I attended this course and had a GREAT time. George Ryan is a top notch instructor, and the techniques he teaches are very applicable to the foundational skill set of CrossFit athletes. I highly recommend this course. BA BOOM!

I think this video is invaluable because it teaches the proper selection of equipment for a striking program, and how to use the equipment both safely and effectively. I am enjoying this series on George Ryan's Striking Cert. because I went thru his cert. in March at CrossFit Cynergy in Hanson, MA, and also because he is my brother...:)
Watching the video makes me want to do the cert. again! I had a great time.
Good job George!

George and his "Crossfit Striking Seminar" are a perfect match for the Crossfit Community. Now you can "kill two birds with one stone". Before, Crossfitters were getting in great shape. Now, you can get in great shape and learn how to protect yourself (and your loved ones) at the same time.
Perfect combination!
Crossfit could not have picked a more qualified, experienced or knowledgeable person to teach it.
Great job Crossfit.
