On Episode 179 of CrossFit Radio, host Justin Judkins interviewed Adam Stevenson of Outlier CrossFit and Angie Pye, who won the Canada West Regional in dominant fashion in May. This episode was webcast live at 6 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, July 6, 2011.
2:20 Adam Stevenson opened Outlier CrossFit a week before the Reebok CrossFit Games Open started and had only a short time to form a team. Not only did a team come together, but it also qualified for regionals and only missed qualifying for the Reebok CrossFit Games by a slim margin. Adam spoke about his team’s experience at the regional and breaking two world records, as well as the lessons they learned from the weekend. Back to business, Adam shared a little about how he runs his affiliate.
24:30 Angie Pye crushed the Canada West Regional, taking only eight points on the way to victory. She talked about her rugby background, how she found CrossFit and why she loves it. Angie also talked about her weaknesses (as she perceives them) and described how and when she made the decision to compete as an individual. Even though she qualified as an individual, Pye will have teammate Alicia Connors beside her at the games, and Angie explained what it’s like to train with another top athlete. Finally, Angie detailed what kind of a workout she would like to see at the Home Depot Center.
