On Episode 181 of CrossFit Radio, host Justin Judkins interviewed CrossFit Central female Games qualifiers Lindsey Smith and Carey Kepler. Lindsey will be making her third trip to the Games and placed second at the South Central Regional. Carey won the same regional, and this will also be her third appearance at the CrossFit Games. This episode was webcast live at 6 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, July 20, 2011.

4:15 Former pro soccer player and college heptathlete Lindsey Smith came on the show to talk about her experience throughout the CrossFit Games qualification process. The CrossFit Central athlete gave her thoughts on what she would have changed about the Open and the regional competitions, and she talked about her training over the last year, as well as her expectations for this year’s Reebok CrossFit Games. A veteran of the Sport of Fitness, Lindsey reflected on how the sport has grown and evolved over time.

29:40 Carey Kepler placed third at the ’09 Games and looks to return to the podium this year at the Home Depot Center. She described what it means to her to qualify for the Reebok CrossFit Games with the competition getting better and better every year. She talked about regionals and what it’s like to train with Smith and Lisa Thiel on a weekly basis. Finally, Carey described different methods she employs to perform at her best, such as acupuncture, cryotherapy and yoga.
