4:40 Ben Lunak had part of his leg amputated as a result of injuries sustained from an IED while serving as a U.S. Marine in Iraq. Ben told the story of the incident and his long road to recovery. He spoke about suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and explained how he found CrossFit and how it’s helped him recover mentally, physically and emotionally. Lunak recently had the opportunity to represent the Wounded Warrior Project as it joined forces with representatives from the NFL to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
36:55 Cheryl Brost placed 13th at the 2010 CrossFit Games and attacked her training hard this past year. The 40-year-old mother of two stormed into the Home Depot Center this July and placed seventh overall. Brost came on the show to talk about her experience at the Games, and she described why the first workout was the one she disliked the most. She also detailed her favorite event and gave her thoughts on the skills-and-drills portion of the competition. Finally, Cheryl talked about training to compete at an elite level while maintaining a balance in life with marriage, kids and a career.
