On Episode 194 of CrossFit Radio, host Justin Judkins interviewed CrossFit Inferno owner Bill Grundler and 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games 10th-place finisher Matt Chan. This episode was webcast live at 6 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011.

The WOW (Workout of the Week) is from CrossFit Boca Raton:

Four rounds for time of:

10 push jerks (135 lb.)

15 toes-to-bars

10 ring dips

3:55 Bill Grundler just started his fourth nutritional challenge at CrossFit Inferno, and he came on the show to share what has and has not worked for him and his athletes. He explained how he sets up his challenges and why he does it the way he does. Grundler’s object is to make the challenges as inclusive as possible, then provide the education and tools for his athletes to make the direct correlation between eating properly and the results they get. Grundler also outlined the main points of a nutrition lecture he gives at the beginning of every challenge.

34:55 Matt Chan owns CrossFit Verve and has placed in the top 10 in the last four CrossFit Games. Chan and Chris Spealler recently competed together at the UFC Expo and won the event as a team. Chan talked about the competition and the programming for the workouts. He also described his experience at the 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games and compared this year’s event to previous Games. Like Grundler, Chan has conducted several successful nutritional challenges at CrossFit Verve, and he described what he’s found to be the most helpful to those who have completed the challenges.

Great stuff.

It's cool to hear how Matt, an experienced Games athlete, is still experimenting with his training and nutrition.
