Hilary Achauer checks in with Barbells for Boobs, a month-long event to raise money for breast-cancer screening and diagnostic procedures for women and men under age 40.
In 2010, more than 400 affiliates in five countries participated in Amazing Grace, raising over $300,000 for breast-cancer screening.
In 2011, the event is even bigger. It runs throughout the month of October, and as of Oct. 13 $300,000 had been raised.
A new element in 2011 is the Pink Bra tour. Zionna Munoz, DJ Sly (who lost his mother to breast cancer) and Katie McNeilly are driving a wrapped van across the country, visiting 20 states and participating in 17 Amazing Grace events.
Amazing Grace 2011 continues through October, wrapping up at Reebok CrossFit One on Oct. 31. Visit Barbells for Boobs to find an event near you, or to make a donation visit Mammograms in Action. Donations are accepted even after the Pink Bra Tour wraps.
Take action, get involved, and pick up a barbell for boobs.
