On Episode 209 of CrossFit Radio, host Justin Judkins interviewed George Ryan, who is the subject-matter expert for the CrossFit Striking Trainer Course. Justin also interviewed Bob Weeks, who is doing great things for the Wounded Warrior Project. This episode was webcast live at 6 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012.
The WOW (Workout of the Week) is from CrossFit WV.
Five rounds for time of:
9 chest-to-bar pull-ups
12 pistols
95-lb. power snatch, 15 reps
2:45 George Ryan has developed a system of striking and self-protection that he teaches to law-enforcement officers around the country. In the CrossFit Striking Trainer Course, attendees are not only introduced to this system but also learn how to incorporate striking into their CrossFit programming. Ryan explained what people will learn at his seminars and how a CrossFitter would benefit by attending. He shared a little of his background and how he found CrossFit. As a law-enforcement officer, Ryan says he benefits daily from his CrossFit training, and he spoke about why it’s important for those who serve and protect to attain elite fitness.
29:50 Bob Weeks is a man on a mission: to raise awareness and money for the Wounded Warrior Project. In order to do that, he’s planning on running 444 miles across North Carolina in May. He spoke about why this means so much to him and why he wants so badly to help the cause. Weeks is an endurance athlete who has used running and CrossFit to overcome life’s trials. He spoke about running a marathon in each of the 50 states, plus Washington D.C., and described how he found CrossFit and why he loves the community so much. He ended by explaining what the Fix 4 the Day Tour is and how CrossFitters can get involved.

I enjoyed the interview with JJ and George about CrossFit Striking. George you explained perfectly what the program is all about and how it improves the fitness of all athletes that participate in CrossFit Striking WODS and training, whether they are a complete beginner or a professional fighter. Good questions, good answers.
Also, Mr. Bob Weeks, THANK YOU for your commitment to The Wounded Warrior Project and our country's veterans. Best of luck to you with your training.
Lastly, this is the first Crossfit Radio program I have listen to. I went on to listen to some older episodes after this one. I have to say I am now a fan, I like the format and the topics.

The Striking Cert was one of the hardest and funnest certs I've attended. George is an excellent instructor and we've really had a great time implementing Striking as an extra modality at Hammer Down CrossFit. Plus people love to hit shit.

Yep, having the same issue with iTunes. iTunes is telling me that the last three episodes (207-209) could not be found on the server. Is there a fix for this (in iTunes)?

Same problem with this episode and iTunes, and the last three as well. Hey JJ, I think all 17 listeners have now mentioned this over the past week or two -- is there any way you could let us know what's going on? Thanks, brother!

I am sending another email to crossfit journal. I suggest everyone click on the contact
us on the bottom of the page. JJ is probably really busy with wrestling season.

Good idea -- I didn't realize it was wrestling season so maybe that's why we haven't heard from JJ. I already sent an email as you suggested.
