On Episode 259 of CrossFit Radio, host Justin Judkins interviewed success story P.J. Cote and CrossFit BGI owner and head trainer Dana Lynch. This episode was webcast live at 6 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013.

8:06 P.J. Cote was serious about improving his life, so he sold his shares of a business in order to focus on losing weight. He joined a CrossFit gym, and to date he’s down about 140 lb. and well on his way of reaching his target of 220 lb. He described what life was like when he weighed 420 lb. and explained why he chose CrossFit to help him accomplish his goals. Cote talked about his first months of CrossFit programming and recalled how his first workout left him unable to walk properly for five days. 38:27 CrossFit BGI has been open since 2007, and owner Dana Lynch said the affiliate is experiencing record growth. Lynch recalled the early days when they had to explain what CrossFit was to a new athlete but said now people come in with a basic knowledge and a desire to do what they saw on ESPN. Lynch says her staff focuses on quality movement and explained why it’s so important for her and her trainers to attend as many CrossFit specialty seminars as possible. After touching on programming and Open prep, she talked about social media and how she challenges her members regularly.
