On Episode 281 of CrossFit Radio, host Justin Judkins interviewed new affiliate owner Jonathan Lopez, as well as Michelle Crawford, who qualified for the CrossFit Games by placing third in the Mid Atlantic Regional. This episode was webcast live at 6 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, June 19, 2013.
2:54 Jonathan Lopez recently bought CrossFit Little Rock, where he formerly worked as a coach. He spoke about the process of buying an established CrossFit affiliate and what he has done to ensure continuity for the community and culture. He explained how yoga, kettlebell and Olympic-lifting classes fit into CrossFit programming and why they offer such a diverse variety of programs. Lopez also spoke about catering to athletes who want to compete in CrossFit and providing great programming for members who don’t have competition goals.
32:49 Michelle Crawford placed fourth at last year’s Mid Atlantic Regional and targeted a CrossFit Games spot in 2013. After finishing third in the 2013 Mid Atlantic event, she described what it means to her to reach her goal. Crawford beat fourth-place finisher Alea Helmick by only two points, and Crawford talked about a final day of intense competition. She also detailed the changes she made over the past year and talked about how she will mentally and physically prepare for the big show in Carson, Calif.
