On Episode 283 of CrossFit Radio, host Justin Judkins interviewed two female CrossFit Games competitors: Natalie McLain from Colorado and Michelle Letendre from Quebec. This episode was webcast live at 6 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, July 3, 2013.
2:20 Natalie McLain placed second at the South West Regional and qualified for the CrossFit Games for the first time. She gave her thoughts on the Regional competition and talked about how she hopes training at high elevation will help when she goes to California. As a rookie Games athlete, McLain is determined not to be intimidated, and she described how she’s been training and preparing for the the unknown and unknowable. She explained why she squats nearly every day and why the volume of her workouts is staggering. She also gave advice to other athletes who want to qualify for the Games.
26:04 Michelle Letendre spoke about how hard work helped her qualify for her third CrossFit Games. She said the Regional programming was effective for finding the fittest athletes, and she talked about having a concise plan for the Games. Letendre, who finished second at the Canada East Regional, described how she’ll train for Games and prepare for surprises and unknown events. She said the mental side of CrossFit will definitely be front and center when the Games start at the end of July.
