On Episode 291 of CrossFit Radio, host Justin Judkins interviewed CrossFit success story Justin Hopman and CrossFit Games competitor Dan Bailey. This episode was webcast on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013.

2:53 Justin Hopman told how he found CrossFit after receiving a pacemaker at only 38 to treat a third-degree atrioventricular block. He explained what his life was like before the pacemaker and CrossFit, as well as how it turned around in three years. Over that period, he’s lost weight and has been able to stop taking many medications. He described his first few months of training and how his coaches really made a difference. To Hopman, CrossFit is much more than just a good workout, and the community aspect means a great deal to him.

17:28 Dan Bailey is coming off a win at the invitational competition in Big Sky, Mont., as part of the CrossFit Tour. He described the Big Sky experience and explained his biggest take-aways from Coach Greg Glassman’s speech. Bailey talked about his performance at this year’s CrossFit Games, where he finished eighth, and explained what’s next for him. Finally, Bailey gave advice to young CrossFit competitors looking to gain sponsors.
