It’s about 3 a.m. on Saturday after the Legless event at this year’s CrossFit Games. The Rogue Fitness crew and volunteers have just dismantled 40,000 lb. of steel rigs for rope climbs—and then constructed another 40,000 lb. of A-frames for pull-ups at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.

“We just took down the rope-climb rig. Now we’ve got five rows of, I think, it’s five 80-foot rows of A-frame,” says Rogue founder Bill Henniger. “We’re pretty close now. Now we gotta figure out the matting.”

The next day, the crew finishes the teardown of the A-frames from the 2007 event and subsequent build for the final day at about 4 a.m. That same day, Sunday, they’re back to work at 6 a.m.

The Games, Henniger says, have become a year-round event for Rogue. The company begins preparing for the Regionals in November, he adds. Once the Regionals start, it’s on to the Games.

“I’m always trying to spin up a portfolio of stuff for him to choose from,” Henniger says, referencing Director of the Games Dave Castro. “That’s the fun part.”
