On Episode 341 of CrossFit Radio, host Justin Judkins interviewed Julie Foucher and Annie Thorisdottir, two of the top three finishers at the 2014 Reebok CrossFit Games. This episode was webcast on Aug. 6, 2014.
1:30 Julie Foucher placed third at the CrossFit Games and got engaged to her college sweetheart all in the same week. She spoke about her engagement, as well as her return to the Games after taking a year off to focus on medical School. Foucher compared this year’s events to those from previous years, and she talked about how some 2014 events played to her strengths while others targeted her weaknesses. Foucher explained how she balances training, a relationship, school and a job with CrossFit’s Level 1 Seminar Staff, and she cruised through the Lightning Round of questions.
16:01 Two-time Games champ Annie Thorisdottir described what it was like to take second in 2014 after missing a year of competition due to injury. Thorisdottir gave her thoughts on how CrossFit Games athletes have evolved, and she talked about her performance at the Games. She won two of the final three events, including the surprise Double Grace, and she explained how she strategizes for a workout that’s announced at the last minute. Thorisdottir said she’ll be switching gears after the Games to run an affiliate in New York, New York, and she described how she’ll train for next year.
